Mom's Gentle Demeanor
by Lynn Graham
Mom was always caring for something or someone.
She had a certain Grace about her that would show through as a true love and tenderness, an honest caring for all of the people she cared for throughout her years.
She always had extra room in her heart for the elderly residents she took under her "wings." As a teenager living in So. Burlington, Vt. I can remember countless times when she would bring home mending, add missing buttons, work on removing stains from clothing, sometimes even buying socks or undergarments to replace wornout ones, all from her own pocket so they could always look nice because their families didn't want to bother because "no-one was going to see them anyway."
She always went the extra mile, arriving early and staying a little late, because it was the right thing to do. She always had time for me and my family, helping us out in any way that we might need it.
When she retired, there were many, many times that I would come home from work to find the dishes done and my kitchen sparkling because "she knew I would be tired" and she didn't want me "to overdo"! .... wait a minute ... you are the one who should be relaxing, isn't that called retirement?
Well, I knew She wanted to help ... always giving of herself, always ... That was my Mom.
My stories about her courage, her strength, her love, and her Faith are endless really and I know that she has earned her angel wings countless times over and now she is at Peace.
